Right now I have Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. This questions is about my email client. When I started I had Windows 98, but I always used Outlook Express. I love Outlook Express. I can get and have Outlook on my PCs, but I have noticed that when Steve does a snapshot of his PC, I’m guessing it says Outlook Express. How do I get it? I know it was a free download from Microsoft, but I’m guess it may be a problem.

If you are looking at any of our recent screenshots, you aren’t seeing Outlook Express. That program hasn’t been available for a long time. What you are likely talking about are screenshots of Windows Live Mail. It is a free download from Microsoft and will work well with both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. I talked about how to get it in this article. Here’s a shot of Windows Live Mail.

Another client you may have see featured recently on our site are Outlook.

We’ve also covered Outlook.com, which is not an e-mail client but a web-based e-mail service.

There’s also the Mail App for Windows 8 and 8.1

And we have also talked about the free e-mail client Thunderbird. You’ll find the look of this e-mail client very familiar if you’re a fan of Outlook Express.

The one I think is most similar to Outlook Express would be Windows Live Mail, but there’s no reason you couldn’t download both Thunderbird and Live Mail to see which one works for you.
