Java, Flash Security Updates Available

Adobe Flash Player is often considered to be one of the most vulnerable programs running on PCs. Attackers love to exploit any flaws they come across and that’s why it is very important to keep it up to date.

Adobe has released security updates for Adobe Flash Player for Windows, Mac & Linux to take care of vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker to take control of your system.

Affected versions include Flash Player 15.0.0.167 and earlier versions, Flash Player 13.0.0.244 and earlier versions and Flash Player 11.2.202.406 and earlier versions for Linux. Several versions of Adobe AIR are also affected.

Adobe suggests the following updates:

• Users of the Adobe Flash Player desktop runtime for Windows and Macintosh should update to Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0.189.
• Users of the Adobe Flash Player Extended Support Release should update to Adobe Flash Player 13.0.0.250.
• Users of Adobe Flash Player for Linux should update to Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.411.
• Adobe Flash Player installed with Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 10 and Internet Explorer 11 will be automatically updated to the current version.
• Users of the Adobe AIR desktop runtime should update to version 15.0.0.293.
• Users of the Adobe AIR SDK and AIR SDK & Compiler should update to version 15.0.0.302.
• Users of Adobe AIR for Android should update to Adobe AIR 15.0.0.293.

You version of FlashPlayer may update automatically or you can visit Adobe for the latest update. Make sure you actually go to Adobe and not to a third-party site offering the updates with all sorts of hijackers attached.

Oracle is also offering a critical patch update that contains 154 security fixes for its products, including Java SE. Many of these patches affect database and business suite products.  For a complete list of products, click here.
