Right now there are more than 1.3 million applications in the Google Play Store, making it increasingly difficult to find new interesting apps. For those who want to try something new, and want more out of their Android devices, here are 5 really cool apps that have sadly gone unnoticed.

Spendee

Spendee, like you can probably tell from the name, is a handy Android app for keeping track of your expenses and income. Normally this can be quite the drag, however the app's clean and well designed interface make doing these chores a pleasure! If you’re concerned about having a lot of your private data on your phone or tablet, Spendee includes an option to safeguard your precious data with a password. The app is free, and though there are app banners, I didn’t find them to be much of a nuisances. There’s a paid version that gets rid of these too!

Ringo

Ringo allows you to call international numbers without 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi, it doesn’t use your mobile data, but treats international calls as if they were local. Crazy right? Of course, calls aren’t free, but they are significantly cheaper than regular phone calls, up to 90% cheaper. And to show just how good natured the app is, your first call will be free. You need to register a new account with each of your phone numbers. The app is really useful for travelling to avoid roaming fees if you buy a prepaid SIM abroad (if your phone is unlocked): just sign up with your new number and you’ll be paying for a call as if you were in your own country. The recipient doesn’t need to have the app installed, nor do they need an internet connection, the call is received through the normal phone line.

Secret Escapes

If you're a fan of deal apps and sites, don’t miss Secret Escapes, an app which offers deals for all around the world that can save up to 70% off of the original price. The app was recently launched in the Play Store giving users the chance to gain access right from their phones. It’s free, and offers an offline mode so you can select reservations when offline, plus from what I could tell, the hotels that are there were no hole in the walls either.

Google Goggles

Google developed Google Goggles whose main function is to provide information about pictures of objects that you have taken. The app will use Google Search to provide you with the relevant facts. It will recognize art, books, QR codes, DVDs, and CDs, as well as recognize texts and translate them. Also, it can solve Sudoku if you are stumped. Though the app isn’t full proof, it’s still great for when touring abroad and of course a ton of other things. Again, it’s a free app.

Ask Me Anything - reddit AMA

Last but not least on our list of unknown apps that don’t get enough recognition is Ask Me Anything reddit AMA. It’s an official Reddit app that features celebrity interviews which usually achieves a bit of exclusive information. You can gain access to a wide range of interviews, and it will also let you ask your own question to then be asked in the interview, and you might even get an answer!
